It's not as fashionable as it once was to coo over the Mondavi To Kalon, but the 2011 from Genevieve Janssens is arguably the best edition since the days when the Mondavis ran the winery. The mystique of the legendary To Kalon site is in full effect; a dense, licorice-edged bundle of plum and currant fruit, a full load of fine benchland tannin, and an array of savory tones: tobacco, rosemary and a beefy, coppery tang.
